Lovely and green Society Hill, one of the most historic sections of Center City Philadelphia.
Society Hill is not a hill. It was the Free Society of Traders that gave its name to Society
Hill. In 1683 a sawmill, a glasshouse and a tannery populated much of Society Hill. The area
was not pretty in as late as the early 1960's, but today it is the very model of urban renewal
in a historic setting. Today Society Hill extends from the Delaware River to Washington Square
and from Walnut Street to South Street. The charm of Society Hill is that its homes are lived in
by Philadelphians who delight in 18th and 19th century houses. It is a vital part of the city.
Whereas the Rittenhouse Square section of Philadelphia real estate may be characterized as an
urban dwellers delight, Society Hill is more green, and quiet. In the 18th century Society Hill
was removed from the avenues of commerce and given the residential character it retains today.
From high-rise and brownstone styled condominiums Society Hill condos are as diverse as the
architecture. Again, on the quieter area of Center City, Society Hill's tranquil setting
make it a desirable location for Philadelphia condos buyers. Society Hill Towers, the
Hopkinson House, Independence Place, and Abbott Square are the major high rise buildings in
this neighborhood. The recent addition of The Moravian, on the northern edge of the Society
Hill condo market is a welcome addition to the existing condominium inventory here in
downtown Philadelphia. Quaint cobblestone streets, and the historic feel of the area provide
quite a draw for those looking to buy real estate in Center City. All of Society Hill falls
in the 19106 zip code. We sell many Society Hill condos each and every year!

During the late 1980s, Mark fell in love with the Philadelphia real estate market. The first condo he
bought for himself was in Old City. Working with bank foreclosures on multi-unit buildings, Mark began
to carve his niche as a condominium specialist. Since that time, Mark has progressed into helping
developers turn apartment buildings into condominium buildings.
Having been inside countless condos in
the Center City real estate area, Mark is intimately familiar with the available properties. Mark prides
himself and impresses others of his vast knowledge of what's trendy and knows which finishes buyers look
for when selecting a home.... so much so that he's been seen on HGTV's What You Get For The Money, CN-8's
Money Matters and was the 2005 winner of Philadelphia Magazine's Kitchen of the Year contest.
