The Chelsea Condominiums at 1515 Locust St. - My Experience and Two Cents
The Chelsea condos are on the north east corner of Ranstead and Locust Streets in the 19102 zip code. Converted to residential condominiums from a fairly bland B level office building, the developer was smart in his layout and design, in my opinion. Just two units per floor with the rear units all being 1855 sq ft and the front units are 2225 sq ft per the developer. The penthouse unit at the Chelsea covers the entire floor and it is nothing short of spectacular. The condos are known for having tons of windows as each unit has 3 exposures. The fit and finish are strong as the materials used were not cheap. All units have an open kitchen and living room, generously sized baths and nice closet space, and each condo has a small foyer. Plenty of rental parking within a block. No pool, no gym and a limited amount of common space all mean lower condo fees than similar buildings in the area. A quiet building, The Chelsea condos are a rare offering west of Broad St. for this luxury segment. I would guess the building that is most similar in terms of size, location and fit and finish would be 1737 Chestnut St. Condos. Those also have two units per floor and offer similar (lack of) amenities and condo fee structure.
