Strickland Row - My Experience and Two Cents:

Cobbled together from a number of HUGE brownstone buildings, Strickland Row at 1008-20 Spruce St. offers a variety of layouts and floor plans. Known to have higher than average condo fees (if we compare to other low rise buildings in town) - which does indeed offset the pricing. Higher fees will generally lower resale prices in a setting similar to Strickland Row. A few of the units here are beyond compare in terms of architectural details and design. Some with huge original fireplaces and moldings. Generally speaking, the first floor and second floor units have the most detail. The parcel is located very close to Jefferson Medical and offers a swimming pool as one of the common amenities. Values are strong and the location is fabulous. Close to Whole Food, CVS, and Acme markets.

"My wife and I moved into a 2 bedroom apartment in Strickland Row last year. Our building and 4 others which comprise the Strickland Row Condo Association have combined their inner courtyards to create a little park with an in ground heated swimming pool (opened May-Sept). The buildings themselves were townhouses designed by William Strickland in 1815. Accordingly there are 12' ceilings, thick walls, original molding and some leaded glass windows. Additionally there are 2 full time maintenance men on premises, who keep the place clean. The management company has a representative on site 3 days a week and responds quickly to any need. And our Board of Directors does an excellent job managing maintenance issues and communicating them to us. Our only complaint is the lack of storage facilities, but we solved that by renting a storage bin 3 blocks away."
